Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager

Position: Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager             
Closing Date: Open until filled

The EHS Manager is responsible for the performance of environmental services expected under PCSI’s contract with the Army and in accordance with the State of Michigan and Federal laws.  This position is located at the Detroit Tank Arsenal in Warren, MI, and reports to the site Project Manager.

Summary of Duties:

  • Performs environmental review of preventive maintenance program and all job and service orders to ensure they comply with the requirements of 32 CFR 651 and Army Regulation 200-1 to ensure the work or activity complies with those regulations and all related federal, Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Army Installation Management Command, and US Army Garrison-Detroit Tank Arsenal environmental management policies and procedures
  • Maintains environmental database by developing information requirements and designing an information system.  Prepares summaries and charts by gathering data and analyzing and summarizing findings and trends
  • Examines and analyzes service order record information to ensure compliance with program and for identification of error or potential error situations.  Audits the work on randomly selected cases by analyzing service order record information and visibly verifying the information. Determines the cause of an error and prepares corrective action report along with preventative action. Conducts field investigations to verify information and determine correct repairs
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.  Maintains the stability and reputation of the organization by complying with legal and waste management requirements
  • Reviews federal, state and local regulations; reviews policies and procedures and makes recommendations to management on methods to conform to regulations; educates staff on regulation changes; and conducts training sessions for support staff
  • Manages Health and Safety Programs for approximately 58 employees
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required and directed by the Project Manager

Mandatory Qualifications / Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science or related field
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Michigan environmental management (including hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air emissions management and storm water management)
  • Certified Michigan Asbestos Project Designer
  • Certified Michigan Lead Inspector and Risk Assessor
  • Certified Michigan Construction Site Storm Water Management Operator
  • OSHA 501 accreditation
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Strong attention-to-detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background check, and motor vehicle report
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be an insurable driver for company
  • Obtain/maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) security clearance

Desirable Qualifications / Requirements:

  • 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Training
  • Certified Michigan Asbestos Inspector
  • Certified Michigan Asbestos Management Planner
  • Certified Michigan Asbestos Contract Supervisor (includes Certified Asbestos Worker)
  • Certified Michigan Class B Underground Storage Tank System Operator
  • National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Part 106:  An Introduction, 18-Hour Training Seminar
  • Previous government experience and security clearance strongly preferred
