    A Day in the life of a Staff Scientist at PM Environmental:

    • Project management and oversight of multiple projects.  This includes the management of external communication with related stakeholders (clients, attorneys, state agencies, etc.) as well as internal communication with project managers across multiple department service lines.
    • Coordinate and plan onsite activities and field personnel.
    • Maintain culture of safety by ensuring onsite personnel are adequately informed and prepared to conduct their assigned duties and comply with safety and environmental regulations.
    • Develop appropriate scope of work to assess Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) and/or project specific objectives and associated cost estimates.
    • Technical report preparation including Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs), and Documentation of Due Care Compliance (DDCC) reports.
    • Manage financial responsibilities including invoicing, record keeping, and contract management.
    • Evaluate progress of assigned projects, helping to ensure that all steps and procedures are taken according to industry standards and PM standards. 
    • Conducting data evaluation and comparisons to appropriate cleanup criteria and/or screening levels.
    • Provides administrative support for the Department Manager.  This includes, but is not limited to, answering phone calls, determining project objectives/goals, research, client interface, AR follow-up, etc.
    • Operates computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, Deltek Vision, Microsoft Office Suite, and other basic office support software.
    • Follows, enforces and maintains corporate policies and procedures.
    • Occasional field work including oversight of subcontractors (drillers, surveyors, etc.), soil, groundwater, and soil gas sample collection, excavation/remediation oversight, lithology, etc. 

    What you bring to the PM Environmental team:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field.
    • One (1) to Three (3) years of experience with the duties listed above.
    • 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification preferred.
    • Understanding of Michigan’s environmental regulations including Parts 201 and 213 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA).
    • Experience with Due Diligence report writing, specifically Phase II ESAs/BEAs, DDCCs is preferred.
    • Experience with field sampling/methodology/techniques and industry standards is preferred.
    • Ability to smoothly handle client/customer interactions in a fast-paced, deadline driven, work environment.
    • Strong problem solving and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple projects with a keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to work efficiently in-person or remotely.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and be available for travel on occasion.

    • Preparation and support in building project proformas in the state required format, incorporating the incentive programs being pursued.
    • Writing and managing of Federal EPA Brownfield Program Grants (i.e. Assessment, Cleanup, and Revolving Loan Funds)
    • Global project management and oversight of multiple projects  This includes the management of external communication with related stakeholders (clients, municipalities, quasi-governmental agencies, local community groups, etc.) as well as internal communication with project managers across multiple department service lines.
    • Project presentation/public speaking at virtual and in person formatted public meetings at
    • Business development activities; including representing the company at conferences, training events, or other networking functions

    What you bring to the PM Environmental team:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Science or related field
    • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience with the duties listed above
    • Moderate to strong understanding of due care and additional response activities required in association with redevelopment projects
    • Understanding of Environmental Due Diligence reports, specifically Phase I ESAs and Phase II ESA/BEAs is preferred
    • Ability to smoothly handle client/customer interactions in a fast-paced, deadline driven, work environment

    What you bring to the PM Environmental team:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering
    • Three to five years of related environmental engineering experience
    • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred
    • Knowledge of Michigan’s Part 213, Leaking Underground Storage Tanks, environmental regulations
    • Soil and groundwater remediation experience
    • Vapor Intrusion (VI) assessment and mitigation experience
    • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER 29 CFR 1910.120 certification with documented yearly refresher course is a plus
    • Excellent communication, analytical, organization and time management skills
    • Must be detail-oriented and a team player

    Orchard Hill Sanitary Landfill

    LANDFILL OPERATIONS MANAGER

    Job duties include:

    Manage the day-to-day operations of the Orchard Hill Sanitary Landfill, located in Watervliet, Michigan. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following fields:

    • ·         Landfill operations
    • Landfill / earthwork construction
    • Environmental compliance
    • Safety

    Ensure the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the landfill.

    Manage the operations of the landfill, including:  ongoing construction, licensing, permitting, leachate, and landfill gas management.

    Minimize operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance.

    Continually work to improve turnaround time for waste hauling trucks in and out of site.

    Accurately monitor and record waste receipts volume and weight.

    Serve as a community relationships liaison.

    Direct and manage third-party environmental and engineering consultants with facility licensing and permitting issues.

    Oversee site personnel needs including recruiting and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

    Assist the General Manager in the landfill budget process.

    Manage the maintenance of the landfill facility through inspections and routine preventive maintenance programs with site staff.

    Conduct and/or attend routine site safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.

    Update and submit required internal and regulatory reports in a timely manner.

    Direct supervision of 12 – 18 full-time and part-time landfill employees.

    Education and Experience

    Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 5 years of relevant work experience.

    Experience:

    o   5 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

    o   Microsoft programs – Word, Excel, Powerpoint

    Orchard Hill Sanitary Landfill

    Environmental Compliance Specialist

    Job duties include:

    • Coordinate management of incoming waste.
    • Identifying the testing requirements of the material to be disposed of, distributing and collecting special waste documentation, reviewing and approving of the material prior to disposal.
    • Filing waste documentation appropriately
    • Track and update approvals of ongoing waste streams
    • Provide waste training to company employees
    • Monitoring regulatory changes that will impact operations at the State, County, City and Township levels.
    • Attend applicable regulatory training sessions both in person and online.
    • Represent Orchard Hill Sanitary Landfill at state association meetings.
    • Successfully perform the required compliance duties of monitoring and reporting certain criteria to regulators.
