    Civil Design Project Engineer

    A day in the life of a Civil Design Project Engineer at NTH

    • Prepare and review contract documents, designs, and specifications for civil projects.
    • Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.
    • Assess feasibility and soundness of proposed site civil and development features.
    • Prepare site design calculations and lead effort of project team.
    • Perform a variety of engineering analyses and calculations, with and without the use of engineering software.
    • Develop design details and specify appropriate construction materials.
    • Coordinate construction quality control services, conduct periodic site visits, and review daily field reports prepared by others.
    • Develop and present project-specific or technical presentations to clients, technical organizations, and in-house staff.

    What you need to apply

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Site/Civil Design from a 4-year accredited college or university.
    • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam, EIT, or EIT required. Professional Registration or ability to attain professional registration in the State of Michigan within 12 months preferred.
    • 5+ years of demonstrated site development experience including site layout, grading, sewer and other utility design, pavement design, permitting, budgeting, jurisdictional agency interaction, and other related project activities.
    • PMP certification is preferred.
    • Ability to support a multi-disciplinary team on projects with minimal oversight.
    • Expert-level Civil 3D and AutoCAD proficiency required, Infrastructure Suite experience is preferred.
    • Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software experience, including proficient use with HEC-HMS, SWMM, Storm and Sanitary Analysis or others.
    • Understand, read, and prepare design drawings and specifications.
    • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm preferred.    
    • Must have strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrated team-oriented approach to problem-solving, and have strong interpersonal skills for contact with clients and fellow engineers/technicians.
    • Accuracy, dependability, and strong organizational skills
    • Have the ability to manage multiple assignments at any given time, delegate tasks and assignments, and have ability to work in a team environment.
    • Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • May be required to enter and work within confined spaces, once appropriately trained.
    • At least 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience in mentoring and leading junior staff.
    • Ability to organize technical material into comprehensive reports as well as perform QA/QC reviews on work product.
    • Project planning, budgeting, task delegation and management to ensure project is completed according to work plans.
    • Project Administration, including invoicing and collections.
    • May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
    • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan.

    Job Summary

    Global Remediation Technologies, Inc. (GRT) is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Environmental- or Geological- Engineer to lead and manage key elements of environmental investigations and remediation projects. This position requires excellent engineering and writing skills, creativity and attention to detail along with working knowledge of environmental compliance regulations.  GRT’s team of professionals helps manage an interesting and diverse portfolio of contaminated sites within the State of Michigan and we are looking for a new team-member to join us!

    Primary Focus

    -          Investigation strategy development

    -          Remedial investigation data assessment/reporting
