Optimized Site Investigations Utilizing Advanced High Resolution Site Characterization Subsurface Imaging Data, Portable GC for Speciation and Quantification, & Correlating Soil & GW Samples Onsite in Real Time
On complicated contaminated sites, especially when there are potential multiple releases, advanced site characterization has proven helpful with subsurface imaging technologies. High Resolution Site Characterization (HRSC) technologies, such as the Optical Image Hydraulic Profiling Tool (OIHPT) System for detection and delineation of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and the Membrane Interface Hydraulic Profiling Tool, (MIHPT) for detection and delineation of VOCs, and the Groundwater Profiler/Sampler, (GWS/P), assisting in delineation for PFAs, can speed up and upgrade the investigation phase.
This talk includes several case studies which will highlight the application of HRSC but with an added lab grade portable gas chromatograph, (GC), for further correlation for HRSC subsurface imaging logs with lab data. Case studies will include benefit details and results of utilizing advanced real time technologies.
Presenter: Janet Castle, Eagle Synergistic Optimizing Technologies
Janet Castle has over 20 years of experience with utilizing geophysics, petrophysics, geology, hydrology, and geochem to optimize projects. She is a Professional Geologist and president of Eagle Synergistic Optimizing Technologies. Her primary area of focus includes managing a team of subsurface imaging specialists that complete HRSC investigation projects and 3D visualizations. Other areas of expertise include working with geochem to correlate soil and groundwater samples to HRSC subsurface imaging data, including a portable onsite lab grade GC. She is also highly experienced in 3D modeling. As a geologist and petrophysicist, she has developed optimized strategies and plans for various types of sites, including commercial, Superfund, EPA, O&G, and DOD sites. She has also worked on PFAS sites and is actively engaged in the rapidly evolving world of PFAS science and regulations. Education is in geophysics and petroleum geology at University of Houston and Colorado School of Mines.
