    Environmental Professional (EP)

    Location: Grand Haven, MI
    Lakeshore Environmental, Inc. (LEI) is actively seeking an experienced environmental professional to join its West Michigan team.  The successful candidate will have experience managing a wide variety of projects related to environmental due diligence and remediation.   The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated manager who can function independently and as part of a fast-paced team.

    This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week and potential to grow.  This position is also eligible for health insurance, flexible spending account, short/long term disability, a Simple IRA with company match, and accrual of paid time off (PTO).  

    Responsibilities:

    • Actively contribute to a team of environmental professionals and project staff completing work related to Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments, Baseline Environmental Site Assessments and Documentation of Due Care Compliance Reports to support property transactions.
    • Assist in marketing efforts related to Environmental Due Diligence
    • Direct and/or assist in field work including soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, and construction oversight.
    • Coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.
    • Provide oversight on environmental remediation projects, and operations and maintenance of environmental remediation systems.
    • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, and technical reports.
    • Review, sign off, and provide comments on reports.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field with 5 years’ experience.
    • Qualified Environmental Professional (EP) as defined by ASTM International
    • Experience in Project Management
    • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills.
    • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
    • Valid Driver’s License and a good driving record
    • Ability to succeed in a consulting pace, handling multiple project assignments, and maintaining flexibility, while meeting strict deadlines.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience managing professional teams
    • Detail oriented with mechanical aptitude and hand-on-trouble shooting/problem solving skills.
    • Experience preparing documents for EGLE and other regulatory agencies.

    Environmental Scientist

    G2 Consulting Group is looking for a full-time Environmental Scientist with one to five years of demonstrated experience to join our Environmental Consulting Department at our headquarters in Troy, Michigan. Environmental Scientist will perform site remediation investigations, technical and safety oversight of subcontractors, permitting, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, and health and safety audits. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations is required. ACM Building Inspector is a major plus.

    Required Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor or Associate Degree in Engineering / Environmental / Ecological or other related fields
    • One to five years of demonstrated experience in environmental consulting

    Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist position-Lansing, MI

    Environmental Engineer, Geologist or Scientist is a full-time position to support assigned project managers, engineers, geologists, or other technical positions. They perform field investigation work in support of site assessment and remediation projects, assist in the preparation of draft Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment reports, participate in design, implementation and reporting for assessment and remediation projects and other related environmental projects. They also assist in the completion of data and literature review work for geologic and hydrogeologic characterization of sites for environmental media including air, groundwater, and surface water at hazardous waste and other environmental contamination sites.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Conduct environmental monitoring; including the collection of soil, surface water, sediment, groundwater and waste material samples.
    • Conduct environmental surveys pertaining to health and environmental hazards.
    • Perform emergency response activities.
    • Maintain sampling and monitoring equipment in operational condition.
    • Oversee subcontractor installation of test pits, soil borings, monitoring wells or excavation work. Install borings with hand auger or DPT (Direct Push Technology) equipment.
    • Perform maintenance and repair of remediation systems.
    • Prepare drafts of written reports, proposals, tables of data, CAD drawings, boring logs, and sampling forms for review by project manager.
    • Work with project and senior staff to develop an understanding of a project’s scope of work, schedule, and budget. Communicate with site supervisors and contacts to schedule work activities.
    • Complete deliverables and project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule, reviewing technical documents and reports for completeness and accuracy.
    • Follow technical guidance and policies of the department, regulatory agency, and the company.
    • Analyze technical problems; devise new or improved techniques, approaches, and alternative solutions; and communicate those to supervisor for approval and implementation.
    • Participate in scheduled team meetings and, as needed, project meetings.
    • Participate in civic and community events.
    • Seek opportunities for cross-selling of services to enhance and expand our existing client relationships during and after projects.

    Qualifications
    Minimum required qualifications include:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science, or related field of expertise or equivalent experience.
    • 1 to 3 years of experience in environmental consulting; with demonstrated experience in the completion of site assessments, remediation, environmental audits, data interpretation, and report writing.
    • Technical report writing skills and a working knowledge of MI and EPA regulatory requirements that are applicable to each project assigned. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
    • OSHA Hazardous Site Operations Worker Training (1910.120).
    • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.


    Working conditions

    The position will require occasional evening and weekend work. The position also requires outdoor work throughout the year in urban, suburban, and rural settings for the collection of environmental samples, and to observe and document the work of subcontractors. Strict adherence to Health & Safety Plan and standard operating procedures in performance of field duties is required. Position may require use of personal protective equipment and air monitoring equipment to minimize the potential for exposure to contaminants. Position may require up to 5 to 15 percent out of town travel.

    Physical requirements
    Position requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances, kneeling, walking, lifting, and manually advancing hand operated drilling equipment.

    SME is seeking a regular, full-time Environmental Services Senior Project Manager to join our team in our Plymouth headquarters office or Detroit office to play a key role on our Environmental Services project management team. Activities will include working with key clients to revitalize and reuse contaminated sites and assist owners with understanding and managing their regulatory requirements.

    Requirements for this position include:

    • Demonstrable experience in site investigation; data evaluation, validation and visualization; due diligence; due care evaluations; and report preparation.
    • A comprehensive understanding of environmental conditions and application of regulations (e.g. Part 201, Part 211/213, Part 115, RCRA, TSCA) for environmental compliance, redevelopment, and construction;

    Summary

    The person in this position will undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the investigation, evaluation, and remediation of contaminated sites.
