    Key Job Elements

    Civil Design (Northville, MI)

    Assist the Civil Design group with creating drawings to convey design intent, preparing site design calculations, developing design details, and specifying appropriate construction materials. Duties will include assisting with the preparation of design drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and reports and may require working on construction sites performing inspection activities and preparing daily field reports. AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus.

    NOTE: This is a seasonal position.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of high school diploma 
    • Be willing and able to work on construction sites.
    • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Be able to work in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrated team-oriented approach to problem-solving, and have strong interpersonal skills.

    AECOM is seeking a mid-level Scientist in our Southfield, MI office to assist with a variety of projects including data management, site investigations and remediation. This position will be a hybrid role. 

    The successful candidate will also assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in a variety of settings. The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.

    Responsibilities of the position include:

    • Data reduction, review, and interpretation.
    • Drafting of figures using AutoCAD.
    • Familiarity with Part 213 and Part 201 of Michigan’s PA 451.  
    • Review of junior level reports and field notes to ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems.
    • Development of site specific SHE Safety Plans.
    • Completion of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) paperwork and observations.
    • Sampling of various media including soil, groundwater, surface water and soil gas.
    • Installation of groundwater monitoring wells and vapor monitoring points.
    • Oversight of subcontractors performing various tasks.
    • Interaction with the public as a representative of AECOM.
    • Calibration of field instrumentation and documentation.
    • Completion of lithologic descriptions of soils from drilling activities.
    • Field preservation of samples in preparation for laboratory analysis

    EGLE’s Remediation and Redevelopment Division (RRD) has created a new Detroit District.  By doing so, we feel that we can better serve the citizens of Detroit and Wayne County.  To begin the process of building this new district, we are looking for a Detroit District supervisor.  The Detroit District will share office space with the current Warren District located at 27700 Donald Court in Warren.  Remote working is possible with EGLE approval.  This position (see announcement & link below) is open to ALL applicants, which includes applicants from outside EGLE RRD, and will be open until July 15, 2022, 11:59 PM.

    Education

    Certifications

    Technical Experience

    Education

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus on Site/Civil Design), or related degree, from a 4-year accredited college or university.  Master’s Degree preferred.

     Registration

    • EIT preferred

     Technical Experience

    • 3 months - 4 years of demonstrated site development experience including site layout, grading, sewer and other utility design, pavement design, permitting, budgeting, jurisdictional agency interaction, and other related project activities.
    • Ability to support a multi-disciplinary team on projects with minimal oversight.
    • Experience using AutoCAD preferred. Civil 3D or Infrastructure Suite experience a plus.
    • Experience with hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software, including proficient use with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, Storm and Sanitary Analysis or others a plus.
