The Incident Manager serves as a singular point of contact between local, county, state and federal government incident management personnel, on a statewide basis. The Incident Manager provides oversight of response actions to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and incident management standards of performance. Tasks are multidimensional including preparedness for, prevention and mitigation of, response to and recovery from many types of disasters, emergencies and major events to include the most serious and complex incident "types" as defined by the National Incident Management System (NIMS). This position also functions as a senior EQA/Project Manager to implement Part 201 and Part 213 of the NREPA at both privately-funded and state-funded properties, located in the RRD District Office.

    1. Collects, documents, packages, and ships samples in accordance with appropriate project-specific sampling and analysis plans/protocols.
    2. Assists with routine and non-routine data collection activities for environmental monitoring programs, which may involve hazardous material/waste project sites.
    3. Assists with routine sample preparation and/or analyses, generally on site, in support of mobile laboratory operations or screening surveys.
    4. Completes documents and is responsible for quality control of all assignments.
    5. Follows and enforces company health and safety policies.

    Job Requirements

    Education
    High School education is required. Associates degree and/or background in sciences are preferred. May require training in site remediation and hazard protection.

    Experience
    On-the-job training will be provided.

    Storm Water Specialist

    This posting is for an intermediate level storm water specialist that will work collaboratively as a member of the University of Michigan (U-M) Environment, Health & Safety Department’s Environmental Protection and Permitting Program.  The primary focus of the position will include, but not be limited to, the overall management of the University’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Permit and other related storm water compliance issues.  For consideration, applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a MS4 NPDES permit, which includes all reporting and compliance requirements of the permit.  Additional responsibilities may include: Joint Permit Applications, Threatened & Endangered Species Report evaluation, Wetland & Stream Delineation Report review, GIS, TMDL sampling, Floodplain Evaluation & permitting, sanitary sewer sampling, and other general environmental permitting & compliance.

    Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to serve as an Environmental Project Manager with our AFS (Arcadis FieldTech Solutions) team in support of environmental project implementation (technical reports, scope, schedule, budget management).  The position is project management oriented and, working under the supervision of project managers, you will perform task management activities including planning and tracking of scope, schedule, and budget in accordance with Arcadis project management requirements. The position will be located in our Novi, MI office.

    Other duties include:

    • Data analysis and writing technical reports
    • Regulatory correspondences and other project documentation
    • Assistance with preparation of investigation work plans
    • Subcontractor correspondences and agreement execution
    • Field activity planning and coordination

    Project Geologist/Engineer II

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform Phase I and II environmental assessments to support property transactions.
    • Conduct field work including soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, and construction oversight.
    • Coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.
    • Provide oversight on environmental remediation projects, and operations and maintenance of environmental remediation systems.
    • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, and technical reports.
    • Assist in groundwater and remedial system performance monitoring, maintenance, and optimization.

    Staff Asbestos Professional – NTH is seeking a staff level engineer, scientist or geologist for a full-time position with our Environmental Due Diligence/Remediation team in Northville, MI. The position requires an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technology, Environmental Science/Health, Geology, Natural Resources or related degree from a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university.     RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the Performance & Assurance service team in Holland.
    • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.
    • Manage multiple large-scale projects and/or reporting programs within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
    • Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and mentor junior staff.
    • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelors or Masters Degree in chemical or environmental engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or related discipline.
    • Experienced in reading and understanding chemical nomenclature, chemical reactions, performing stoichiometric conversions, reading SDSs and identifying key chemicals.
    • Experience in air release calculations (emissions factors, emissions controls, etc.) would be preferred.
    • 10 to 15+ years of EHS consulting experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with exposure to a variety of manufacturing environments/sectors.
    • Extensive experience preparing and QA/QC reviewing threshold and release calculations for TRI reporting required; experience auditing TRI calculations/programs and use of EPA’s Audit Policy for compliance issue resolution highly preferred.
    • Experience developing, auditing, and/or maintaining corporate management industry standards/compliance programs (either as a consultant or an internal compliance officer).
    • Expertise with USEPA and MDEQ environmental regulations and understanding of environmental permit application processes.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and analytical skills; experience working with detailed technical data; experience writing and QA/QC reviewing comprehensive technical reports and calculations.
    • Strong MS Office computer skills; advanced understanding of Excel mandatory; PowerPoint and Access desired.
      • Advanced skill set in the use of MS Excel - experienced in the systematic organization of large data sets and preparation of complex calculations using Excel. Must be able to do lookups and multi-layer/embedded sumifs and if/then formulas.
    • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
    • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility and work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Professional registration desired.
