    Junior Environmental Engineer or Geologist

    ABOUT THE POSITION: 

    Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? We expect that the selected candidate will work on a diverse array of complex contaminated site projects throughout the Midwest and the US. The typical project portfolio includes investigation and remediation projects for sites in state voluntary clean-up programs as well as RCRA and CERCLA sites. Projects also include working with industrial clients on a variety of environmental issues including remediation system design and optimization, compliance reporting and remediation waste management.

    Some of the key responsibilities for the junior environmental engineer or geologist position include:

    • Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, soil boring logging, and remediation treatment system operation and maintenance;
    • Data analysis, including preparing tables, maps, and figures using AutoCAD, GIS, and/or Environmental Visualization Software (EVS) applications, and database management;
    • Performing remediation system operation and maintenance services; and,
    • Evaluating chemical and hydrogeological data, including mapping and reporting.

    CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS in earth science (geology, hydrogeology, or geochemistry) or engineering (environmental or civil preferred) and an academic track record entailing research in contaminated media or geologic/hydrogeologic studies. (required)
    • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
    • Two to five years of work experience. (required)
    • Project experience involving environmental field investigations including groundwater and surface water monitoring and drilling. (preferred)
    • Experience with ArcView, Microsoft Office Suite, Modflow, and/or EVS. (valuable)
    • Ability to obtain professional certification (P.E., P.G. or equivalent). (required)
    • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
    • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)

    Staff Professional – NTH is seeking a staff level engineer, scientist or geologist for a full-time position with our Environmental team in Northville, MI.  The position requires a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or related field with a minimum of 2 years experience in performing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.  Experience with Hazardous Building Materials Survey and Storage Tank Removal is preferred.  MI Asbestos Inspector Certification and 40-Hour HAZWOPER with Annual Refresher also preferred.  Must have strong verbal and written communications, computer and interpersonal skills, and ability to work as a member of a team or individually with minimal supervision.  Sound knowledge of Part 201 and 213 regulations is a plus.  Typical tasks include visual survey, historical records search, subsurface investigations, data review and evaluation, and organizing and writing proposals and technical reports.

    • E.I.T.
    • OSHA 40 Hr Hazwoper
    • Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Able to interact effectively with internal and external clients
    • Strong oral and written communication skills required
    • Knowledge of soil and groundwater investigations
    • Strong computer skills and a significant understanding of Microsoft office applications (specifically Excel)
    • Attention to detail and excellent time management – balancing immediate and long-term work with varying priorities and deadlines
    • Comfortable in both an office and field environment, as assignment priorities may change
    • Valid driver’s license is required for business travel

    Director – Site Assessment Services

    ASTI Environmental has an opening for a Director to manage building assessment and remediation projects throughout Michigan, as well as northern Ohio and Indiana.  The successful candidate will have experience in: lead assessment and abatement; asbestos assessment, management and remediation; mold assessment and abatement; vapor mitigation; soils remediation; and underground storage tank closure.  Duties will include project management, client development, technical guidance, remediation oversight, data validation, report review, and staff management and mentoring. Position is based in our Brighton, Michigan office.  Five years experience in environmental consulting, and a BS in science or math required.  Masters degree, hazwoper training, and applicable certifications preferred.
