    Applied EcoSystems, Inc., (Applied EcoSystems) is an established and growing company that has been providing full service environmental consulting in Michigan and the mid-west for over 18 years.  We specialize in due diligence services associated with commercial property transactions -- Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs), Due Care evaluations, leaking underground storage tank (LUST) assessments and closures, and Brownfield assessments.  Other services include; however, are not limited to, asbestos inspections, wetland determinations and emergency spill response.

    Position Available

    Full time position available to self-motivated Environmental Professional proficient in completing industry standard Phase I ESAs and Phase II Subsurface Investigations, including soil and groundwater sample collection techniques.  Working knowledge of Michigan’s BEA and Due Care programs preferred. Candidates must understand the components of quality project management and be capable of completing multiple, technically accurate, on time and within budget project assignments. UST/LUST assessment/reporting experience preferred. Business development potential not required but considered a plus.  This is considered a mid-level Project Management position.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in completing ASTM compliant Phase I ESAs
    • Ability to develop strategic Phase II Subsurface Investigations scopes-of-work designed to assess Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs)
    • Working knowledge and experience with Michigan's BEA and Due Care Plan program
    • Direct experience completing Phase II Investigations in the field with working knowledge of soil and groundwater sample collection techniques
    • UST/LUST assessment/reporting experience preferred
    • Experience in municipal grant and Brownfield redevelopment programs
    • Business development capability considered a plus
    • HAZWOPER trained
    • Proficient with MS Office
    • Bachelor’s degree in an environmentally related field
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Easy going, self-motivated, team spirited, plays well with others

    Project Management Associate Job Posting

    Job Title: Project Management Assistant

    Working Hours:  Minimum 10 hours to maximum 24 hours per week, depending on work flow

    Compensation:   $15 to $20 per hour based on academic credentials, relevant experience.Education: Preferred - Bachelor’s Degree (Science / Chemistry, Environmental Science, LSA)

    Will consider relevant experience and/or industry certifications in lieu of college degree

    Experience:       Work in environmental laboratory, data management, project management or quality control is preferred.

    Job Requirements / Responsibilities:

     Processing of Environmental Data

      1. Process laboratory submittals from Outlook in-box to collaborative laboratory management system (CLMS)
      2. Receive and process Electronic Data Deliverables (EDDs)
      3. Perform manual review of selected lab submittal PDF reports (as assigned by Senior Project Scientist)
      4. Interface with environmental labs and project managers
    1. CLMS Project Profile Support
      1. Perform project data entry into CLMS
      2. Edit CLMS project profiles based on associated lab submittals  
      3. Generate tables and report formats related to lab submittal verifications
    2. Laboratory Management Support
      1. Maintain Laboratory Profile pages in CLMS (update certifications and contact information)
      2. Maintain Single blind database (MS Access) and CLMS data entry
      3. Assist with logistics of double-blind studies
      4. Participate, as required, in auditing of environmental labs and field sampling measurement organizations

    Senior Project Engineer
    Lansing, Michigan

    POSITION DESCRIPTION
    Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer for the Lansing, Michigan location. Your primary responsibilities will include:

    • Provide senior technical leadership in management of local and regional geotechnical engineering projects in the solid waste, power, transportation, and rail sectors;
    • Serve as senior project engineer to provide engineering analysis, check calculations and work product of junior staff related to geotechnical engineering projects;
    • Provide contribution to strategic planning, business development, client relationship management activities within the Great Lakes Organization for the solid waste, power, and transportation sector;
    • Manage geotechnical projects involving a variety of engineering disciplines and geotechnical investigations;
    • Checking laboratory (soil and rock) test results and verifying information is applicable for engineering analyses.
    • Managing the overall quality and consistency in the geotechnical soils laboratory in Lansing, Michigan.
    • achieving and maintaining a personal chargeability of 60% or greater within 9 months of start date

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

    • A minimum of 8 years of experience providing comprehensive consulting and geotechnical engineering services;
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering;
    • Professional Engineering (PE) License in Michigan preferred;
    • Focused expertise in soft-soil mechanics, foundation design, earth retention, slope stabilization, consolidation and ground modification;
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and a variety of geotechnical software including: GRLWEAP, Lpile, Slide, MathCAD, and Settle 3D;
    • Experience with performing geotechnical soils laboratory tests, including; sieves, hydrometers, permeability (flex and rigid wall), direct shear, unconfined compression, consolidation, triaxial shear, proctors, and Atterberg limits.
    • Ability to manage a team of geotechnical engineers on large projects including investigations, lab and field testing programs, engineering analysis and design recommendations/reporting;
    • Enjoy working in a team environment with a variety of professionals;
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and clients; and
    • Organize and conduct client meetings and presentations.

    Civil Engineering Technician
    Saginaw Bay, Michigan

    POSITION DESCRIPTION
    Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Technician for the Saginaw Bay, Michigan location. Your primary responsibilities will include:

    • Civil design and site grading using Civil 3D software
    • Construction inspection
    • On-site materials testing
    • Perform laboratory index testing
    • Achieving and maintaining a personal chargeability of 85% within the first 3 months of employment

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Stormwater Specialist

    University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI

    Date Available: Immediately

    This posting is for an intermediate level storm water management professional that will work collaboratively as a member of the University of Michigan Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (U-M – OSEH) Department’s Environmental Protection and Permitting Program (EP3). The primary focus of the position will include, but not be limited to, the overall management of the University’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Permit and other related stormwater compliance issues. For consideration, applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a MS4 NPDES permit, which includes all reporting and compliance requirements of the permit. Additional responsibilities may include: Joint Permit Applications, Threatened & Endangered Species Report evaluation, Wetland & Stream Delineation Report review, TMDL sampling, Floodplain Evaluation & permitting, and sanitary sewer sampling, permitting, & compliance.

    MAEP is excited to welcome our new Administrative Professional, Cheryl Anne Farmer.  As you may have heard at our Annual Meeting in December 2015, Lynne Kohon, Executive Director, has decided to retire after 28 years of dedicated service to MAEP.  We thank Lynne for her service to MAEP.  Also, we want to thank Cheryl for taking on this responsibility.  Cheryl has officially joined MAEP as of January 11, 2016.  Here is her brief bio.

    Cheryl Anne Farmer, owner of an association management company, CA Management, LLC has 16 years’ experience in the association and meeting planning industry.  Cheryl Anne is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in Commercial Recreation. She is a member of the Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI).  Currently she manages the Michigan Association of Professional Court Reporters and both the Michigan and Illinois Chapters of the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials and is looking forward to working with the Michigan Association of Environmental Professionals.  Cheryl Anne enjoys reading, the outdoors, boating, snowmobiling and most of all spending time with her two daughters, Mallory (11), Cassidy (9) and her husband Bryan.
